Hello, I'm Brian.

Clients who enter into therapy with me will find themselves entering into a warm and safe environment where they feel respected, valued and heard.

Asking for help isn't easy. I always admire the courage it takes for a person or couple to decide to enter into the counselling process. People often feel vulnerable and anxious when they come to counselling for the first time and my goal is to help you feel safe and cared for, and to know that you're not alone. We all long to feel understood and even more so when we're experiencing hurt and pain. My belief about the therapy process is that in order to heal and grow, we need to "feel felt" - to feel genuine concern and understanding in a non-judgemental environment. We long to feel that the one listening to us is resonating with our story and with our pain, fears, and hurt. Healing comes as we experience that our concerns and story matter and make sense, freeing us to gain the courage to deal with the reality of our lives. Through this experience of acceptance and validation, we are able to safely integrate our deepest hurts, find hope, and move towards healing and wholeness.

I have been working with individuals, couples and families since 1989. Since this time, my approach has evolved as I've worked closely with mentors and supervisors, and continued my professional development with some of the leaders in the world of psychotherapy. I have a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
